New Studio Ghibli Film!?

My heart almost ‘spoded and my pants were almost peed in when I saw the news that Studio Ghibli was releasing a new film based on the old novel, The Borrowers. And then I read that Hayao Miyazaki wasn’t directing this one, so my heart stopped yammering in my chest and I put the emergency roll of toilet paper away. Then I remembered that I was never really a fan of The Borrowers because as cool as their life was as miniature people ingenious enough to create a lifestyle around ginormous human sized items, the book was really boring.

Miyazaki and I just have great taste in young adult literature, like Diana Wynne Jones. He just needs to make a fantasy animated version of Emily of New Moon (BEST BOOK EVER) and then I’ll be set for life.

Get Ready To Bawl

I saw a post online that inspired people to submit the saddest thing you could find online, like photos of dead kitties or articles about drunk drivers killing entire families in split seconds or a graphic description of my social life.

But I think I win with this final clip from Grave of the Fireflies. B isn’t allowed to watch it since he hasn’t seen the movie yet (for some reason, the story about two orphan kids trying to survive during World War II in Japan doesn’t sound very appealing), but I do know for the fact that I sat down to watch this with two full grown men and even they had a hard time keeping their eyes from tearing up.

I love this song. Sometimes it comes up on my iPod, which can be a total mood killer when you’re trying to hit on your fiance, but it’s just so beautiful!

Ponyo Forever!

Disney has finally released their version of Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea which showcases the wonderful art by Miyazaki better than the other trailers but unfortunately features the dubbed voices. Blech.

So I prefer to listen to this while watching the trailer as much as possible.

Speaking of which, B thinks it’s the worst song ever and I just think that’s rude.

BEST NEWS EVER

Hayao Miyazaki’s latest animation, Ponyo, finally has a US release date!!! AHHHH! The film premieres on August 4th, but there is no way in hell I will be watching the dubbed version. Screw you, Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas. FRANKIE JONAS? REALLY? Ugh.

Disney hosted several screenings of the original Japanese version of Howl’s Moving Castle at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, and I am praying that they will do the same for this movie.

Otherwise, I’m going to wait for the DVD.

PS. I LOVE THIS THEME SONG. Even my baby cousin in Japan does a special dance to it. I like to sing it randomly around the apartment but unfortunately, I only know the first line so it’s basically just that, over and over and over again. However, that NEVER gets annoying for the people who love me. *ahem*
