Aretha Franklin's Hat Is Taking Over The World

I love it when something fabulous hits the Internet and then people pull out their awesome Photoshop skills and turn it into a whole amazing phenomenon. (Do you like my use of adjectives? Fortunately for you, I’ve run out.)

Check out Luke Song’s hat (which apparently is a one-of-a-kind and for Aretha ONLY) as it makes its way around the world. Who else agrees that this hat should be donated to the Smithsonian???

At Last

I was really upset when I realized that I had missed the First Couple Dance (or whatever it’s called) at the Neighborhood Inauguration Ball cause of work. I even searched for the clip on YouTube until I realized it literally happened 5 minutes before, and all the Internet nerds were probably still uploading it.

But here we go! Yay!

Am I the only one to think this is all very reminiscent of a wedding? The oaths, the ballgowns, the fancy guests, the parade…Wait, you guys have parades at your family weddings, right?

I’m not just pushing the Michelle Obama bandwagon along, but I love love love her dress. I think it really suits her perfectly. I barely watched the Bush inauguration four years ago, but I remember seeing Laura Bush’s long-sleeved frumpy gowns that made her look like such an old housewife.

But Michelle…She knows how to dress!

YAY I’M SO EXCITED.

Aretha Franklin's Hat

I’m sure you’re all very familiar with the hat that Aretha Franklin wore while singing at Barack Obama’s Presidential Inauguration this morning.

How FABULOUS is this?? I never wear hats, I don’t know a thing about hats and I’m sure hats wouldn’t look on me, but I LOVE THIS HAT.

There is something just so faboo and adorable about it. It’s got a huge bow bedazzled with Swarovski crystals in what looks like a very warm wool material (felt?) cocked at a jaunty angle that’s like HEY EVERYONE. I’M FABULOUS. Aretha’s a diva and can only wear the most divalicious bows.

I would totally wear this. I wonder if Mr. Song Millinery will be making copies anytime soon.

Anyway, is Luke Song an Asian hat maker? If that’s true, this hat is even more awesomer than ever. EVER.
