I just read Dear Margo’s post last Friday, and I’m completely confused as to which woman this “FLUMMOXED AND SAD” is talking about (edited down, of course):

DEAR MARGO: Last February I met an amazing woman online…Recently, my best [friend], who lives locally, has been dealing with some personal issues. As a friend, I was spending time with her, babysitting for her and listening to her without the judgment she was receiving from her family. The problem is that I have been open about my friendships and what I do on a day-to-day basis. Now the woman I love is feeling betrayed, which has put a dent in my long-distance relationship with the woman I feel a complete love for…Now I am trying to make her feel comfortable with a friendship that has never been inappropriate or intimate…In the meantime, I have become a recluse from my other friendships because I don’t want to withhold information from the woman I love…What to do?— FLUMMOXED AND SAD

What? Which woman are you concerned about? Your best friend who’s having a hard time? The woman you love feels betrayed which is ruining the relationship with the women that you love? What the fuck? Why can’t you just call her your girlfriend? Why can’t you just say, “my girlfriend is jealous of my other female friends and is demanding 100% of my attention,” in which case, the response should easily be: dump her. Then we’d save a lot of space both in the newspaper and online. This is so confusing. What about your best friend? What does this have to do with meeting the woman you love online? What? What’s the problem?

This is stupid. I can’t believe Dear Margo would pick this letter. Of course, her response nicely sums up how he should be considerate to the woman he loves by reassuring her that he won’t hurt her, or something like that. Who cares.

Ugh, that made my head hurt.
