Someone needs to send a memo to Coach that we’re in a recession, the unemployment rate is at an all time high and we’ve lost the most jobs since 1976 or something. I don’t know, I only read some headline on Yahoo! News.
So why are they advertising their handbags at such exorbitant prices? Wait, let me rephrase that. Coach handbags are expensive and I’m sure well worth the price (usually). But what I can’t stand is how they are acting as if their high “luxury” prices are normal (besides the fact that they’ve increased their prices like 200% over the past 3 years) and, when it comes to the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, they can be such a steal.
Today I got a V-day email from them, highlighting their special items perfect for any guy (or girl) to give to their significant other. And WTF? Are they really advertising “gifts under $300″?? I thought most of their bags cost around $300. THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS?? You think people really have that kind of money to spend on a stupid leather handbag or bracelet for an overrated Hallmark holiday?
And no, it’s not a typo.
If anything, Coach should market how economical yet still luxurious their gift options are: keychains for under $70 (yes, KEYCHAINS and yes, I did buy one once), free shipping, etc. etc.
But nope! Look, you can pick up a pink leather hobo bag for only $248! That’s under $300 so therefore, it must be a steal.
Grrr…
You know, there’s still that voice in my head that really really really really wants this purse though. But it’s over $300, so I shouldn’t buy it.
